So who is this Makoto?
“Virtually” speaking, I am a (black-phase) "silver" fox. I have artistic passions, a nocturnal sleeping cycle, and a feline femme mate that makes me very happy.

It’s been a year since I’ve actually made a post in this thing (Bad fox! Bad!).

Went to FurFright again this year and for the 1st time I was selling my work as a dealer. My “Furry Zen” artwork was very well received. Because people really liked it I have started a new FA page for my Furry Zen art Here.

I have also started a business e-mail for art commissions and the like at makotofox(at)gmail(dot)com.

The odd photo and art plug will be posted soon, but for now have a great Halloween Everybody!

Hi Everybody! I haven’t been making many entries lately, mostly due to boring RL stuff. Before my job goes into full Holliday mode I thought I’d try to post what I could.

Below the cut is my FurFright Con report. For those of you reading this that are not “Furries” I suggest you read this article. It was written by a reporter who snuck into the convention undercover and was surprised at what she found.

More entries to come soon. I really mean it this time.

Well it’s nine days since I got back from Anthrocon. I am finally getting over the awful cold I came down with shortly after returning (a condition commonly called “Con Krud”). So before I enter a more complete con report I first wanted to share this youTub Video with you. It is of my lovely wife Sapphire and me paying in costume! My wife has been a fursuiter for over a year, but this video literally shows my first attempt at fursuiting in public. Sapphire is the grey cat in pink and I’m the other one. My “suit character” BTW is named Etch and is a black and grey shep dog.

And remember walking around as a 6’2” K-9 means you’re looking for attention, so tell me what you think.

Well incase you were wondering Sapphire and I are here at Anthrocon. We arrived on Tuesday and have been enjoying Pitt. To those of you who are here, I hope we get the chance to see you all.

    Let the CON Begin!!!

Well it has been a month since my last update so let me just apologize to all three of you who might have actually noticed. You know who you are and thanks for missing me =)

So what did I do this last week? Had a week vacation with Sapphire, spending some of it cleaning my parent’s basement. Bought the new UBER computer and waited for it to come in. Got the new UBER computer in the mail and spent many an hour setting it up and discovering Vista Ultimate. Found that since my scanner was 10 years old (Only one I ever owned) it was too old to even plug into my UBER computer. Got new scanner in mail and plugged it in. Got Photoshop Elements 5.0 (more on that later).  Worked a lot at the job (you know that one I make money with).  Had some fun, made some future plans, and all the while I worked hard making more art for the Anthrocon Art show! I also got something really cool! (Or at the least something “interesting”) But that’s going to be for another entry XD

So basically I’ve be busy but I am back now. I will try to keep my updates more frequent and give you all more free art to check out. Speaking of art, as I mentioned I got Adobe’s Photoshop Elements. I did this because I needed a new program to do my digital work. The program I was using was the one that came with my old scanner (the 10 year old one). That’s right; I really needed a new one. I also felt it would be a good program to start using before I try and delve into the massive program that is PhotoShop CS3. I hope to get the CS3 as early as this Christmas. Of course I should also mention that there was no way with all the other things purchased this last month I was going to be able to buy the CS3. For those of you who don’t know, that program costs $650.00 bucks American. Yep that’s right $650. I tell you once I actually know how to use that program it had better be able to eat pixels and shit image gold!

Well I have got to get back to inking a cute Ferret-girl clutching her tale. So all of you have a great time and remember:  When life closes a door it always asks you “What!? Were you born in a barn or something!?”

Well as promised here is my own Easter pick for you. I call it "Zen Easter."

If this is a special day for you or if it's just a good reason to wait until they put the "Cadberry" Eggs on sale, I wish you all a most contemplative and enlightening day.

Next Up-date: an artists need to embrace his/her mistakes in order to grow. Bye for now ; )

Hi all! Much is going on with me: I am working on art for Anthrocon (I received and sent out my art show reservation), I'm setting up a birthday party for my lovely mate sapphire, I'm prepping for easter dinner with the inlaws, and I'm slowly going insane... fast!

Ah but for now here is a bit of art for you and lets make it a caption contest. What would you write for this piece?

A special Easter piece will be posted later today for all of you to enjoy. Until then, Have a wonderful day and remember:

Hi all, so my computer is not dead yet. After some experimentation I found that the main problem was my power supply. Mind you the power supply was only a year old and by a good maker. (What the Heck!) I do still plan to get a new "state of the art" computer (with PhotoShop), but now I can wait for a good find.

Here I have for your viewing pleasure a piece I did of my lovely mate Sapphire. I used Faber Castell brush pens on this one and I have to say "I love these pens."

On the subject of art, I find myself thinking about basic artistic goals. For example: to make an image that (in one frame) can tell a story without saying a word, to make an image where the viewer can feel the passion put into the piece, or to make an image the can invoke deep emotions/thoughts from the viewer.

What are your thoughts? what goals do you find yourself draw to?

More art and stuff soon, until then remember: In art as in life, the fear of failure can be much more detrimental then its realization.

Hi all! Well this update comes to you later then I wanted. I am hi-jacking my work computer to send this out because my trusty computer has gone south. Signs have been showing for about 2 months now that the motherboard is going. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to resurrect my computer this time. However, this does mean some good news:
    1. without the distraction I will be making more art.
    2. I will be getting the new high-powered desktop I’ve been saving for sooner.

So here is a question for all you artists out there. As I plan to get a new computer I also want to get a good art program to use with it. So what would you all suggest? Photo Shop? Special Plug-in’s? And any good books out there I should check out on how to use said program? Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

More art and such from me soon… I hope.
